Dyslexia Support

Teaching reading and spelling skills to older students

If students are still struggling with reading skills by the time they reach Secondary school their confidence and desire to engage in further intervention can be very low, or non existent. Students from Year 7 are expected to access GCSE level materials which require a reading age of 15+. This can lead students who find reading challenging to 'give up' at school, or internalise the idea that they are not as able as their peers.

My approach is to use an online literacy tool that supports decoding, spelling and writing which is designed for older students and adults. The use of this tool alongside 1:1 support has proven to be very effective in my school setting. You will be provided with the log in details so your child can accelerate their progress by working independently between sessions.

1:1 support available online or in person (in Brighton, Hove or Lewes), £55 per hour.
